“Grieving is coming to terms with the reality of a loss…”

Gabor Mate’

GriefWorksCoaching was born from my recurring experiences as a hospital Chaplain, journeying with patients, individuals, and their families through the pain and trauma of death and dying. In this clinical setting, I discovered my innate passion and life purpose: to offer compassionate care and support to grieving individuals.

I received Theological training to the master’s level, with two Clinical Pastoral Education Diplomas. The first was from the Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI, and the second was from The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. I enhanced my training with a Grief Coaching Certification from the Institute of Professional Grief Coaching, Washington, DC.

I believe in the transformative power of grief and the grieving process to help us heal holistically. This allows us to experience and embrace peace throughout our lives. As woven threads in the tapestry of humanity, characterized by our color, gender, ethnicity, religious affiliation, and socioeconomic status, we find cohesion through death and the grieving process. This process reveals how inadequate and vulnerable we are when faced with a death experience and the need to seek help to cope and journey through.

If we were to reflect upon our lives and formative years, we would discover concerning grief, we’re much in the dark. We were not taught in-depth how grief affects us and how it offers healing. Very often, how we cope with grief, and the grieving process can be described as a result of default learned behaviors from our immediate family norms or praxis, community, and societal influences, as these collectively and imperceptibly mold our grief responses. As such, we never become acquainted or intuned with the unique way our body, soul, spirit, and mind would have us respond in moments of grief and grieving. This is why I’m motivated as a Grief coach to help individuals in their grief journey recognize and understand who they are and the process of grieving waiting to be revealed in and through them.

I provide online, in-person, and group coaching sessions on recognizing, embracing, and understanding grief, its function in our past, and how it shapes or influences our present experiences. As our faces differ, so does the grief and grieving process in our lives. Hence, each coaching session with me is tailored to you, your pace, journey, coaching goals, and desired outcomes. Grief works to unite us with the full spectrum of human emotions so we can enjoy a holistic and well-balanced life.

I look forward to journeying with you now!
